Dear Zeke

     For You He Died.

He looked down from the cross
He'd done His Father's will
The mob below moved around Him
The angels above stood still

Guards cast lots on garments
Their bets would soon be fate
The priests taunted him to come down
before all was to late

Come to me as children he once said
This thing is almost through
Then he cried out to His Father
"Forgive them. They know not what they do"

I stood there in my silence
as darkness filled the skies
Then I heard a voice beside me
She was an angel in disguise

I wondered how I'd gotten there
to this time and place
Was it dream, or was it real?
Whose tears were on my face

As he hung upon the cross that day
I stood there in the mud
never feeling this clean before
I was covered in His blood

The tears I felt came from Him
drops from the nails above
But the nails could never hold Him
He held on for this love

I didn't understand at all
this thing He had to do
Then the angel in disguise whispered
He had to die for you

And I had to stand beside you
because this really isn't the end
Sin was all that died that day
The lord will come again

I woke myself from that dream
Wondering how much was real
I looked around at my life
concrete walls and prison steel

Then on the radio I heard a voice
The show was almost through
She was the angel in my dream
"You know he died for you"
